Five Health Promoting Drinks
March 11, 2013
When it comes to eating healthy, it’s not only about what is on your plate, but also what is in your glass. Drink up and enjoy these health promoting drinks:
1. Water. On average, the human body is made up of about 60% water. Every day our bodies experience fluid loss, and it is important to replace those fluids. Water helps digestion, transportation of nutrients, and removal of impurities throughout your body and maintains your body’s temperature. Water also helps to prevent muscle fatigue. Drinking ample water keeps the skin hydrated, resulting in plumped up skin cells so your skin looks healthier, younger, and glowing. Adequate water intake also helps you to feel fuller on fewer calories, thus supporting your weight loss efforts.
2. Green Tea. Tea is one of the world’s most popular beverages, second only to water. The health-promoting benefits of green tea have been recognized in China for thousands of years. Green tea promotes antioxidants in the body to protect against free radical damage. Green tea has also been shown to have skin benefits and protect against photoaging (premature aging of the skin caused by ultraviolet exposure). If you don’t particularly like green tea, Tegreen 97 is a great substitute. In fact, one capsule of Nu Skin’s Tegreen 97 provides the equivalent of seven cups of green tea and over 95 mg of EGCg*—without the caffeine.1
3. Carrot Juice. Carrot Juice is one of the richest sources of beta-carotene, an important antioxidant that can be converted to vitamin A if the body needs it. Beta-carotene is linked to eye health, immune function, and gene transcription. Carrot juice as a source of beta-carotene can prevent skin dryness and reduce blemishes and scars. It is also important for skin maintenance and repair. In addition to providing beta-carotene, carrot juice is an excellent source of B vitamins and many minerals.
4. Orange Juice. Orange Juice is a good source for vitamin C as well as flavonoids, both of which act as antioxidants in the body to combat free radicals. Vitamin C has many benefits for the skin, for example, it is a cofactor for collagen production, which can help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Vitamin C also inhibits discoloration which can assist with evening skin tone. Regular consumption of orange juice may decrease bad cholesterol levels, promote healthy blood pressure, and protect against inflammation both internally as well as in the skin.
5. Gac Fruit Juice. Gac fruit is a source of many potent phytonutrients, and what makes it truly unique is that it delivers a highly bioavailable form of carotenoids called “lipocarotenes.” In fact, the beta-carotene from Gac fruit has been scientifically shown to absorb better than beta-carotene from dark green vegetables. Any ideas where to get Gac fruit? Try Nu Skin’s g3. Nu Skin’s g3 combines Gac’s health benefits with the addition of fruit juices from Chinese lycium, Siberian pineapple, and Cili, all of which are also excellent sources of antioxidants. g3 helps support cellular rejuvenation, strengthens the antioxidant network, fortifies antioxidant defenses against vascular and cellular free radical damage, and slows the common effects of aging through DNA protection.*2
