Tin is of the children supported by the Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund. When Tin was a toddler, her mother noticed that she was breathing abnormally. After several visits to the doctor, she was diagnosed with a heart condition. Tin’s condition prevented her from playing outdoors with other children, and it deprived her of the chance to go to school. Tin’s family could not afford the operation needed to provide her with the proper cardiac treatment.

Eight-year-old Selina, five-year-old Precious, and two-year-old Jason, along with their parents, Lawrensce and Laika, came to SAFI to learn modern farming and livestock skills. Meet three-year-old Moses. Last January, he joined the Mwaiwathu Community-Based Childcare Center (CBCC) in Machinga, Eastern Malawi. He was malnourished and very ill. When he started eating VitaMeal, he began improving so much that those around him were relieved and wanted to know more about VitaMeal and the Nourish the Children initiative. Lim from Singapore was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when he was only one month old. Because his parents lacked the funds to provide Lim with the treatment he needed, he grew slowly and lacked the energy little boys his age have. When doctors informed his parents that Lim would not be able to live past the age of 20, they realized they had to do something. Thanks to the donations to the Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund, Lim received the lifesaving surgery he so desperately needed.

Najwa was diagnosed with congenital heart disease when she was six years old. Her father tried everything to earn enough money to help his daughter, but was unable to do so. Then he heard about the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation and the Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund. Najwa’s parents are very thankful for the donations that made her recovery possible.
On average, the Fund saves more than one child’s life every day of the year. In 2012, there were 440 other children, like Najwa, who received lifesaving surgery through the Nu Skin Southeast Asia Children’s Heart Fund.
Earlier this month, a group of Nu Skin leaders had the privilege to visit the School of Agriculture for Family Independence (SAFI) and experienced firsthand the efforts the Nu Skin Force for Good Foundation is putting forward to change people’s lives.
During the trip, those attending visited local orphanages and the SAFI facilities and meeting the great families who were nearing graduation from the school.
On Thursday, August 16, 2013, twenty nine families graduated from SAFI and now have the skills and education to be self-sufficient in providing for their families, and completely enhancing their lives.
